Parents advised of risks involved in flying kites.

Electricity service failures due to kites coming into contact with high voltage transmission and distribution lines is observed to be very high in the month of August, said the the Addl.General Manager (Corporate Strategy) of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

This message is made by CEB to the public to take immediate steps to prevent such situations.  Parents are kindly informed of the risk of electrocution of children caused by flying kites in the vicinity of such overhead electricity lines.  CEB further states that there could even be fatal accidents due to kites entangling with High Voltage Electric Power lines.

Therefore, the parent are advised to ensure that their children are properly educated of such risks in flying kites in this windy season.
