President participates at religious ceremonies in Anuradhapura.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who visited the Anuradhapura Sacred City on Friday (25) paid homage to the historic Jaya Sri Mahabodhi  and secured blessings.
Thereafter the President called on the  Atamasthanadhipathi the Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera and inquired into his wellbeing. The Ven.Thero chanted Seth Pirith and blessed the President.

A Heel Dana was also offered to the members of the Maha Sangha near the Ruwanweli Maha Seya on Friday morning  by President Rajapaksa with the contribution of family members. Religious observances were conducted by the Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya the Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayake Thera, invoking blessings on the President.

First Lady Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Minister S.M. Chandrasena, North Central Governor Karunaratne Divulgane, Provincial Minister S.M. Ranjith and Presidential Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath were present  at the religious events.
