Addressing a media conference held at the Police Headquarters Tuesday (27), Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that one of the suspects Sandalinga Raja Dushanthan had joined the LTTE Political Wing in the year 1994. He had extended his full support to the revival of the LTTE outfit. The name given to him by the LTTE was Mullichelvam. SSP Ajith Rohana said that there was an open warrant and a red notice issued by the Interpol on him.
SSP Ajith Rohana said the second suspect Mahadevan Kirubaharan a resident of Temple Road in Nallur who had joined joined the LTTE Music Band had fled to Malaysia in the year 2006. He too had made direct and indirect contributions to events that took place in Sri Lanka. The third suspect Selvathurai Kirubananthan who had been a resided at First Lane in Nallur and fled to Malaysia in 2006, had joined the Intelligence Network of Pottu Amman before reaching his proper age.
They are currently in the custody of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) for further investigations, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said,
SSP Ajith Rohana specially thanked the Malaysian Police for apprehending and handing them over to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the Police Media Spokesman has made a fervent appeal from the Tamil community not to support the attempt to revive the LTTE outfit and not be deceived by the LTTE terrorists. He was of the view that ninety nine percent of the Tamil community do not want to witness another war in Sri Lanka.
